Hindi Cell was established in 1990 at ICAR-Central Avian Research Institute, Izatnagar to comply with Orders/Instructions related to Official Language issued by ICAR, New Delhi and Ministry of Home Affairs. It was upgraded to a Hindi Section in 2002 in view of the widespread use of Official Language in the Institute.
Translation Works
- Administrative Translation: Translation of Forms, Standard drafts, Office Orders, Circulars, letters and other procedural materials from English to Hindi and vice-versa.
- Scientific and Technical Translation: Translation of Newsletters, Research Booklets, Research abstracts, Popular articles, Lectures, Radio talks, Institute Publications and Executive summary of Annual reports.
- Vetting: Vetting and proof-reading of all translated materials.
Implementation of Official Language
- Assist in implementing constitutional provisions, Official Language Act 1963, Rule and Annual Programme issued by Department of Official Language.
- Organizing quarterly meetings of Official Language Implementation Committee of the Institute.
- Collection and submission of quarterly, half-yearly and annual reports on progressive use of Hindi to ICAR and Department of Official Language.
- Encouraging increased correspondence, noting, drafting and entries in registers/Service Book in Hindi.
- Implementation of Incentive Schemes for work done in Hindi.
- Compliance with decisions of Town Official Language Implementation Committee, Bareilly.
Other Activities
- Organizing Hindi Workshops and Hindi Pakhwada/Fortnight/Month for staff.
- Organizing competitions including research paper writing in Hindi.
- Assisting in Hindi publications of the Institute.
- Rajbhasha Telephone Seva: Resolving issues related to use of Official Language immediately.
- Aaj Ka Shabda: Displaying an English word with its Hindi equivalent daily.
- Preparation of bilingual rubber stamps, letter heads, and signboards.
